When I used to work in the grocery store, there was an old man who was a regular customer. He always bought the same things: peaches and vanilla ice cream. One time, someone told him that he could buy ice cream with peaches in it; he explained that he buys them separately because his wife, who lived in a nursing home, liked the peaches to be put into the ice cream by hand, and he did this for her as often as possible. I can’t decide if it’s true love or fussiness.
here’s a film that I don’t hate. “You Are What You Eat”, by Barry Feinstein.
On the first day of my first production class, the teacher asked us to go around the room and talk a little about why we want to make movies. Most students said something along the lines of: “I’ve just always loved film”, or “I want to be a director”. When it came to me, I said “because I hate most films”. Everyone laughed, but man…I was serious, and I feel like that’s a good reason still.
